A workspace is where one company’s assessments, data, and results live. If you are measuring your own organisation, you will have one workspace. Consultants and advisors run a separate workspace per client, so no client ever sees another client’s data. Setting one up takes a few minutes. Two of the fields you enter here quietly shape every number you get, so they are worth a moment’s thought.

Create the workspace

After signing in for the first time, you will be prompted to create a workspace. Give it the name of the company being measured, not your own name. Everything inside it carries this label: assessments, reports, and exports.

Add company details

Fill in the basics about the organisation:
  • Legal name and trading name
  • Industry: this determines which default emission factors apply to spend-based estimates
  • Country and region: grid electricity varies enormously by location, so this changes your Scope 2 result directly
  • Reporting period: most organisations align this with their financial year
Industry and region drive factor selection. You can change them later, but results calculated before the change do not automatically recalculate.

Invite your team

A footprint pulls data from several corners of a business, and it stalls when one person has to chase all of it. A common split:
  • Finance connects the accounting platform and handles spend data
  • Operations fills in activity data: fuel, fleet, energy, waste
  • Whoever owns sustainability reviews results and pulls reports

Connect your first data source

Connecting your accounting platform is the quickest route to broad coverage, because it reaches every category you spend money on at once. It is not the only route, and it is not required to start. You can also import from CSV, since most utility portals, travel platforms, and waste contractors can export their records, or type figures straight in. Most workspaces end up using all three.

Next step

Your workspace is ready. Now create your first assessment.
